Goodguys Adjusts Vehicle Age Requirements to Rolling 25+ Year Eligibility Cutoff Window

Over two decades ago, the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association set a hard stop at 1972 for vehicle eligibility in its legendary car show series. Then a few years back, it bumped that eligibility year to 1987.

Now, Goodguys has just announced a rolling 25 year window for anyone looking to enter a vehicle in a Goodguys National event in 2022 and beyond.

*checks watch* That means right now, any car made on or before the 1997 model year can participate.

…And like that, thousands of fourth-gen Camaro owners began leaping for joy.

But we’re not just looking forward to F-bodies here. The ENTIRE Fox Body Mustang family can now join the party. Same with the entire third-gen GM C/K/R/V-series truck crowd. Let’s not forget about the Dodge Viper either—it’s 1991 birthday is enough to punch a ticket too.

Heck, even early Plymouth Prowlers can get in (which, admittedly, makes our brains hurt a little bit).

And think of the imports!

The Acura NSX, Nissan 300ZX z32, Toyota Supra Mark IV, VW Corrado, Mitsubishi 3000GT—many of these drool-worthy performance cars are now welcome to roll up alongside classic Detroit steel, adding a ton of diversity to the Goodguys show car field.

You know what else? This also means the LS engine can come too, as the 5.7L LS1 debuted in the then-new 1997 C5 Corvette.

And since it’s a rolling window and not a hard cap on a specific year, it means Goodguys eligibility expands with every new year.

So we applaud Goodguys for the move because, when we’re talking about car shows, the more the merrier!
