Ford sold an awful lot of F-150 trucks equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost six between 2013 and 2016.

But now, as those trucks roll well past 100K miles, wear and tear takes its toll on the trusty EcoBoost—specifically its turbocharger system, where failures become increasingly common as the mileage ticks past 150K (and that’s even with proper maintenance).

The silver lining is that Summit Racing offers a complete turbocharger replacement kit for the 3.5L EcoBoost six found in the 2013-16 Ford F-150 truck.

And the Summit Racing folks aren’t messing around when they say “complete” here, either. This kit includes everything you’ll need to finish the job: the turbos, the manifolds, plumbing lines, hardware, and MLS gaskets.

But this kit is far, far more than a box of simple replacement parts—Summit Racing made a few critical(!!) upgrades to some key components here.

For starters, while the kit boasts a pair of new (not reman) turbo heads that are direct-fit replacements for the OE units, the real magic is the manifolds.

Many EcoBoost owners will tell you that the lightweight OE manifolds are prone to warping and cracking. So for that reason, the manifolds in this particular kit are cast in high-strength and corrosion-resistant CF8 304 stainless steel for longevity and durability, with extra-thick flanges to resist warping.

Better still, the manifolds are port-matched and optimized for better exhaust flow. Better flow equals faster spooling, and faster spooling means better performance—yeah, that’s a win/win in our book.

Now lets talk about the turbo coolant lines.

Ford used a push-to-connect style fitting on these suckers, which were prone to leaks and, worse yet, the lines had a tendency to rust. That means there’s a good chance they’ll crumble to pieces as you remove them.

To replace that fragile stock setup, Summit Racing instead uses threaded AN fittings on its lines and includes adapters to finish the install. Far more durable than the original ones, these upgraded lines will make any future service much, much easier.

In other words, if you’re looking to keep your older EcoBoost V6-powered Ford F-150 on the road with an all-new turbo setup, this is a once-stop, better-than-new solution.
