When Ford unleashed its sixth-generation Bronco a few years back, it quickly became one of the hottest new vehicles in the gearhead universe—and we knew it was only a matter of time before the gang at Summit Racing got their hands on one.

And now, that time has come.

For its Ford Bronco build series, the Summit Racing folks are taking a stock 2022 Bronco and giving it some key upgrades to make it an even more versatile off-roader—and it’s staying street legal. Better yet, they’re doing it as an homage to the Mexican 1,000-winning 1969 Bronco driven by legendary racer Rod Hall.

For Episode 2, the Baja Bronco project begins in a familiar place: wheels, tires, and suspension. The Summit Racing build team went with a Superlift suspension kit that’ll raise the Ford Bronco about two inches. That suspension lift gave the team plenty of room to stuff in a quartet of 35 inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires. And that rubber gets wrapped around a retro-styled set of Fifteen52 Patrol HD Asphalt Black Wheels—the perfect complement to the throwback vibe of the entire Project Baja Bronco build.

And don’t forget: Whenever you’re swapping new tires onto a vehicle with a tire pressure monitoring system, make sure to get a new set of TPMS sensors. The Bronco used this set from Ford Performance.
