If you’re doing any work in or around your clutch (or replacing it altogether), there’s a good chance you’ll come across a component called a throwout bearing, or more specifically a hydraulic throwout bearing.
As the folks over at Mantic Clutch point out though, there’s often some confusion as to what exactly a hydraulic throwout bearing does.
And since Mantic Clutch includes a new throwout bearing with each of its clutch kits, it made a good, four-minute video that’ll answer a lot of questions on throwout bearing design and operation.
Give it a watch and you’ll get a great demonstration of how a hydraulic throwout bearing works:
How are going to hold the bearing back with a trucker strap when it’s completely incased in the tranny and if you apply pressure to that bearing without it having a clutch to press against it will pop out and leak and it’s a 300 to 400 $ part ? Very misleading
