Video: Exploring COMP Cams’ New Low Shock Technology Camshafts

Over the years, automotive technology has rapidly grown more sophisticated thanks to ongoing advancements in engineering, manufacturing techniques, and research and design capabilities. Breakthroughs are happening all the time, and one of the latest comes from COMP Cams in the form of its new Low Shock Technology (LST).

With its LST series camshafts, COMP Cams is seeking to turn valvetrain-thrashing vertical-ramp cams into a thing of the past. The company’s new breed of camshafts offer a more subdued approach to valve operation by loading the system slightly before accelerating the valve off of the seat more smoothly. The result, according to COMP Cams, is better performance and greatly increased valve spring durability.

COMP Cams recently published a video that dives deeper into the technology, offering insight into how it works and how it can improve the performance of your engine.
