A critical component of any prize fight is the weigh-in.
Horsepower Wars: Pony Wars is no exception.
We’ve got some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the 2017 Ford Mustang GT vs. 2017 Chevy Camaro SS weigh-in as the cars get ready for the eventual title bout.

In the quick video below, the teams are weighing their respective cars to see who has the edge on the scales.
You don’t need to be Colin Chapman to understand that a lighter car has the potential to stop faster, turn quicker, and require less power to accelerate than a heavier car—so the result of the weigh-in has some huge implications for each team’s build plans.
It’s absolutely worth mentioning that the Camaro is an almost fully-optioned 2SS package, while the Mustang is pretty close to a bare-bones GT model.
Turns out, the Camaro weighed-in at 3,667 pounds, while the Mustang tipped the scales at 3,693 pounds, giving the Chevy a scant 26-pound advantage.
Check out the video of the Camaro’s weigh-in: to make it a bit more interesting, the teams throw some money on the barrelhead to the person who guesses the closest correct weight.
