In this Summit Racing Quick Flicks video, Al will show you how to replace spark plugs in late-model F-150 pickup trucks with modular engines.
Because standard spark plug sockets won’t fit properly, the risk of breaking a spark plug is higher without knowing what to watch for.
Particularly tricky is reaching the #4 and #8 spark plugs. Al will show you how to do this on the Triton V8 engines, using tools like OTC’s spark plug removal tool and Lisle’s spark plug thread repair tool.

Thank you so much for creating this video. I have heard horror stories about changing the plugs on the Triton V8’s. Will definitely pick up the tool as I need to change my plugs shortly.
Everyone should keep in mind this is a 2V engine and the one with the issues is the 3V engine. Not a job for the average backyard mechanic.
Great video! Thanks for going into detail on this topic. From what I heard before, changing the plugs on a triton is no easy task, but you definetly made it clear on the risks/method of removing them, and I definetly will be getting the tool.
That’s not how its done, according to alldata or the service manual. The other techs in my shop prefer to use an impact to remove them. I find if you let it warm to touch, and use gentle pressure, they come out fine. Also, never use anti seize on the threads. You use anti seize on the part just below the threads.
This is the second time that I have clicked on one of these videos and it has been something other than what the article is about. I was looking forward to this one because I have a Triton V8 and wanted to learn something new
