A little while ago, we ran a story on how to get started with MIG welding.

Now, we’re going to talk about TIG welding.

TIG stands for “Tungsten Inert Gas” and is viewed by many welders as a bit of a step up from MIG welding. In the hands of a skilled fabricator, a good TIG welder produces cleaner, elegant welds when compared to a similar MIG welder. The catch with TIG Welding is it requires a bit more skill than MIG welding, and is perhaps more labor intensive to do properly.

That said, TIG welding is incredibly popular and useful. In fact, the Summit Racing video team hooked up with one of the best TIG welding professionals we’ve ever seen, and he was able to offer a ton of handy tips, tricks, and tutorials to help you get started with TIG welding.

The video below is well over 20 minutes long, so it offers plenty of excellent pointers, basics, and beyond. If you’ve always wanted to add TIG welding to your arsenal of skills, this one’s worth checking out:
