For all its advantages, the LS has a few notable drawbacks—with a non-adjustable valvetrain perhaps being the most prominent. While that’s not a big deal for most engine builders, it does mean that proper pushrod length is critical and, just as important, you’ve got to make sure you install your pushrods and rocker arms the correct way.

My ls1 makes a rattle /tap noise worse when gets hot and only at about 1000 rpm’s. It becomes apparent upon deceleration and quiets down with idle. This can be heard upon slow increases in rpm but quiet at higher engine speeds.
The engine has 46000 miles and synthetic oil always used with frequent changes always.
