Columbus, Ohio – Though it’s fun to ooohhh and aaahhh over shiny chrome, custom wheels, and fancy paint jobs, a lot of gearheads would rather spend their time under the hood.
So while we were scouring the grounds of the 2023 Goodguys Summit Racing Nationals last weekend, we made sure to peek beneath the bonnet of these incredible rides. From pristine OE-spec powerplants to wicked engine swaps, this show never disappoints.
Check out some of the more unique engines we came across and if there’s something we missed, let us hear about it in the comments section at the bottom of this post.

Paul is the editor of OnAllCylinders. When he's not writing, you'll probably find him fixing oil leaks in a Jeep CJ-5 or roof leaks in 1972 Corvette ragtop. Thanks to a penchant for vintage Honda motorcycles, he spends the rest of his time fiddling with carburetors and cleaning chain lube off his left pant leg.
