The latest Summit Racing project is a Ram 2500 Heavy Duty pickup truck equipped with a Cummins 6.7L diesel engine.

But unlike a lot of project builds, the Summit Racing team didn’t start with a showroom-fresh vehicle here. Nope, this 2018 Ram 2500 is already a long-haul, high mileage workhorse, with plenty of snow, rain, and dirt under its tires.

So the goal of this series is to show you how a few upgrades, some vital maintenance, and a little bit of elbow grease on a road-weary rig can be a smart alternative to buying an all new truck—and much easier on the wallet too.

In the first installment in this truck project, you saw the Summit Racing folks choose a Weigh Safe hitch to help the Ram 2500 be a more competent tow rig. Now the project goes another step further with an airbag suspension install. Airbags are a popular choice for workhorse haulers because a good air system allows you to fine-tune the truck’s suspension for whatever you’ve got in the bed or attached to your hitch.

Follow along as the Summit Racing tech crew installs an airbag suspension from Air Lift, and learn how a quality air system enhances a truck’s handling and versatility.
