Project Ram (Episode 5): 5.7L Hemi Engine & Exhaust Bolt-On Performance Upgrades for Summit Racing’s 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn Pickup Truck

With some aggressive style upgrades and a mild lift kit, Summit Racing’s 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn looks plenty tough.

So to ensure Project Ram has the off-road performance to back up its rough-and-ready image, Summit Racing gave the truck some healthy upgrades in the engine and exhaust departments.

For starters, the Summit Racing tech folks bolted up a MBRP Black Series cat-back exhaust. Not only did it help the 5.7L Hemi engine exhale a little better, it gave the Ram 1500 a nice, aggressive exhaust tone. Even better, install was a breeze because the exhaust system bolts up in place of the stock kit.

Under the hood, the Ram’s 5.7L Hemi V8 got a S&B cold air intake kit. The kit flows better than the stock airbox, which should unlock some more horsepower.

  2. Nice video but honestly I would love to see dyno numbers before and after upgrades. I suspect we would be talking maybe 5hp gains or losses in the case of cold air intake. So no I would not post them either.

  3. Jeff. I spent a half lifetime working in a Dyno facility
    and I have seen engineers ready to sell the farm for just one horsepower. Five horsepower is huge when you look at what you are doing with air filters and exhaust. What were you expecting 50 horsepower gains?
