Subaru just pulled the wraps off the newest iteration of its sports car, the BRZ.

Carrying on the original BRZ’s mission of a handling, balance, and performance, Subaru says this new generation will be the lightest 2+2 production sports car in the United States.

But the 2022 BRZ also boasts a new 2.4L four-cylinder Boxer engine making more power than the previous generation. At 228 horses, that extra oomph addresses one of the few critiques from the original BRZ.

The naturally aspirated engine also produces 15 percent more torque and carries a 7,000 RPM redline.

Perhaps more importantly, engineers increased the chassis stiffness and moved the engine even lower in the car to improve the 2022 Subaru BRZ’s handling.

You can get the new BRZ with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. It’s expected to hit dealer lots next fall.
