The U.S. Marshals are selling 149 classic vehicles at auction that were seized last December in a law enforcement raid of failed start-up energy company DC Solar which sold mobile solar power generators.

According to The Drive, the vehicles up for bid include:

  • 2017 Bentley Continental GT V-8
  • 2017 Cadillac CTS-V
  • 12 Chevrolet Camaros of varying vintages
  • 9 Dodge Challengers, including a 2018 SRT Demon
  • 1969 Dodge Daytona
  • 2002 Dodge Viper RT/10
  • 7 Ford Mustangs
  • 11 Plymouth Road Runners, three of them Superbirds
  • 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am owned by Burt Reynolds
  • 12 Cummins-powered Ram pickups

Federal officials are calling Benecia, CA-based DC Solar’s fundraising methods a Ponzi scheme. DC Solar owners Jeff and Paulette Carpoff are accused of raising more than $800 million in capital from large companies, including $340 million from Warren Buffet-owned Berkshire Hathaway, and then using the money to finance a lavish lifestyle.

Jeff Carpoff is a former auto mechanic and racing enthusiast. DC Solar even sponsored a Chip Ganassi NASCAR Xfinity Series race team.

The vehicle auction will be a live online webcast conducted by Woodland, CA-based Apple Auctioneering Co. Online bidding has already begun. A $1,000 pre-bid refundable deposit is required to bid.

This is the largest auction resulting from vehicle seizure in U.S. Marshals history, USMS officials said.
