Not unlike the opening round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, the first round of eliminations is always brutal because you lose half the tournament field right away.

And so it was with the 2018 Muscle Car Match-Ups (1968 Edition) where we are tipping our caps to our friends at Summit Racing Equipment who are celebrating 50 years in business this year.

1968 just happened to be a spectacular year for cars, we pitted a bunch of them against one another.

It’s up to you to decide which car will win the tournament—see how the voting is done here. Don’t miss your chance to crown your favorite ride from 1968!

On to Round 2.

The Ford Mustang 428 Cobra Jet dispatched the Chevy Impala SS 427 and not faces another General Motors’ legend—the Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds W-45 455, which outran the Dodge Dart in first-round voting.

The Blue Oval versus the General. Everyone’s favorite American automotive rivalry.

Who ya got?

In round 1, the nimble AMC AMX Go Package 390 out-maneuvered the muscle-bound Chevy Chevelle L78 SS 396 into round 2 and now squares off with the Pontiac GTO Ram Air 400, which took out the Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 383 to advance.

Can the AMX eliminate two muscle car legends in back-to-back rounds?

It’s up to you.

The freakish Chevy Corvette 427 L88 denied the Chrysler-powered Cinderalla story that was the British Jensen Interceptor last round, and the exquisite Plymouth GTX 426 Hemi rode its Elephant power to victory over the Chevy Camaro Z/28 302.

So now we have the famed L88 Corvette facing the Hemi-powered GTX.

What say you?

Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi vs. Shelby GT500KR 428 Cobra Jet

Not even 1968’s ultimate sleeper—the Cobra Jet-powered Ford Torino GT—could outrun the venerable Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi in the previous round, and now the feisty Mopar will square off against another CJ, the phenomenal Shelby GT500KR 428 Cobra Jet.

The GT500 was the winner you chose over the Buick Gran Sport Stage 1 400 in the first round.

Now, you have to choose between two of the most exquisite, iconic, dare we say—perfect—performance machines from 1968.

Choose wisely.
