Las Vegas, Nevada—GearStar Performance Transmission sure knows how to celebrate anniversaries. In honor of their 25th year in business, the company exhibited at the SEMA Show for the first time. They also debuted not one, not two, but three cool new products.

For folks swapping GM LS and LT engines into their rides, GearStar now offers 6L80E and 6L90E six-speed automatic transmissions. Currently available in Level 3 (rated for 550 to 650 horsepower) and Level 4 (rated for 650 to 750 horsepower) versions, the transmissions come with a matching, custom-built Yank billet torque converter. They’re compatible with aftermarket engine management systems with a transmission control function as well as standalone transmission controllers.
GearStar didn’t forget you Blue Oval fans. Their new Ford 6R80 six-speed automatics also come with a matched Yank billet torque converter and are rated to handle 650 horsepower (Level 3) or 750 horsepower (Level 4). Get a GearStar US Quick Shift standalone transmission controller and swapping a 6R80 in a classic Mustang or other old Ford will be a plug-and-play deal.
The GearStar 6R80 transmissions are set up as direct fits for 5.0L Coyote, 4.6L/5.4L Modular, and 7.3L Godzilla engines. If you have an old-school small block Ford, Summit Racing has a GearStar billet adapter that allows you to bolt one of their 6R80 transmissions to your engine.
