While the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ is no doubt a rugged vehicle, one place where these off-roaders are showing their age is at the bottom front seat cushions.

Decades of bouncing, vibrating, moisture, mud, and grit take their toll and—even if you think your Wrangler seats still feel OK—there’s a good chance you’ve forgotten what a nice, sturdy seat bottom cushion should feel like.

That’s because, since the foam degrades so gradually over the years, most folks don’t realize how bad it’s become until they’re riding on little more than springs and hog rings.

That’s why we were pleased to discover that Summit Racing offers high quality replacement seat foam bottom cushions for the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and the 2003-06 Wrangler Unlimited LJ. See for yourself:

And what’s even better, is we found The BFH Garage YouTube Channel, which just released a complete walkthrough video of how to replace the bottom seat cushion in your Jeep Wrangler TJ with the replacement foam from Summit Racing.

But the best news? Give the video a watch and you’ll see that it’s a really easy job too—certainly something you can complete in an evening or over the weekend with the game on in the background.

Tip: You’ll probably need a good set of hog ring pliers to get the job done. Fortunately, they’re pretty affordable. You may also want to pick up some replacement hog rings too, if any of yours are extra crusty and break during the disassembly process.

You can watch the complete Jeep seat foam replacement process in the video below.
