After Ford pulled the wraps off the electric Ford F-150 Lightning last year, we knew it wouldn’t be long before the folks at GM would have a response.

And in conjunction with the launch of the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show, we just got to see it.

Boasting a completely electric drivetrain, the battery-powered electric Chevy Silverado RST can make up to 664 horsepower and over 780 lb.-ft. of torque.

Even better, the electric Silverado has up to a 400 mile range when properly equipped.

That’s a pretty solid range number for any electric vehicle, and it’s doubly impressive when you see it accomplished in a pickup truck.

Four-wheel drive capability is available too, when you configure the Silverado with both front and rear motors as part of Chevy’s e4WD system. It’s also worth pointing out that GM’s Ultium battery platform underpins the new Silverado EV.

More 2024 Chevrolet Electric Silverado Specs & Features

When properly equipped on the RST trim, the electric Silverado will have a 1,300 pound payload capacity, with the ability to tow up to 10,000 pounds. And that 664 horsepower can slingshot the Silverado to 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds.

The Chevy RST has a 5′ 11″ bed, and when optioned with the handy Multi-Flex Tailgate and Avalanche-inspired midgate, that bed length increases to a whopping 10′ 10″. Since there’s no ICE motor up front, you can store stuff in a big frunk behind the Chevy’s grille too.

Beyond driving performance, the EV Silverado comes with standard DC fast charging on the RST and WT trims. According to Chevy, that means you’ll be able to get up to 100 miles of charge in ten minutes.

You’ll also be able to use the electric Silverado as a mobile power supply too, with an available PowerBase charging system that has up to 10 outlets that deliver up to 10.2 kW of juice to supply, say, your campground, jobsite, or tailgate party. There’s even an optional vehicle-to-vehicle charging cable that’ll let you fill up another EV.

2024 Electric Silverado Launch Trims

Speaking of trims, when it debuts, the electric Silverado will come in those two aforementioned flavors: the RST and WT. The RST is the top dog of the family (so far), and features some fancy tech like four-wheel steering and an adaptive air ride suspension. You’ll also get GM’s Super-Cruise hands-free driver assistance on the RST—which Chevy says will even work if you’re pulling a trailer.

The WT is geared more toward fleet duty, yet still offers 510 hp and 615 lb.-ft. of torque, along with an 8,000 pound towing and 1,200 pound payload capability.

Whatever trim you choose, the electric Silverado only comes in a four-door Crew Crab.

2024 Electric Silverado Pricing & Availability

Chevy tells us that the electric Silverado WT model will be available in the spring of 2023, and it will carry a proposed price tag under $40,000. Later that year, the electric Silverado RST First Edition model will debut with a $105,000 sticker. After that, Chevy says the electric Silverado line will expand to include other trims, including ones like the familiar Trail Boss model.
