Disclaimer: We have not done any original reporting on the new Jeep Gladiator, which we—and everyone else have been calling “the Jeep Wrangler pickup” for the past few years.
We don’t know anything hardcore folks won’t have already read.
But thanks to the 2018 LA Auto Show happening in Los Angeles, CA beginning today and running through December 9, various media outlets are trickling out new pieces of information on the Gladiator.
Here’s what we know so far:
1. The Jeep Gladiator will go on sale in Spring 2019
The month of April is everyone’s best guess.
2. People are freaking out because they want one
The expectation is that the new Jeep Gladiator is going to sell VERY well, and that prices will likely reflect that huge demand for them. In other words, it’s probably going to be the most expensive truck in the mid-size pickup class for a couple of years.
“…it’s evident that Jeep has a 100-percent-original hit on its hands, and it will basically print money,” opines The Drive’s Cam Vanderhost in his recent article.
3. Vehicle specs indicate the Jeep Gladiator is a worthy mid-size entry, if not best in class
The good people at CNET put together a nice data breakdown of the Jeep Gladiator versus its mid-size competitors—the Ford Ranger, the Toyota Tacoma, the Chevrolet Colorado, and the Nissan Frontier.
Tim Kuniskis, head of Jeep Brand in North America called the new Gladiator “the most capable mid-size truck ever.”

4. Jeep did what Jeep does when designing the Gladiator (add little touches that Jeep people love)
Chris Woodyard at USA Today did a fine job finding details potential Jeep Gladiator owners might want to know in his article “7 fun things to know about Jeep’s crazy Gladiator off-road pickup truck.”
5. We want one
We’re not getting one. (Probably.) Which is both good and bad. Good, because: money. Bad, because: our lives will be worse.
We won’t be getting one as a project vehicle, or as a daily driver, or as a fun weekend off-roader to outfit with endless aftermarket accessories. If you’re imagining us writing this with tears welling in our eyes, you’re imagining it accurately.
Because, we totally want one.

Wow…..gotta love a story about nothing if you want to love this one. “EVERYTHING WE CURRENTLY KNOW “ is a great way to get the readers attention because it definitely pulled me in for the short read. Now I and OAC share the same knowledge about the exciting new Jeepster….nothing new.
