Bob Glidden, drag racing legend and member of the NHRA Hall of Fame, passed away Sunday. He was 73.

Glidden’s career spanned over 25 years, and included 85 event wins and 10 series championships throughout the 1970s and 80s.

“Everyone in the NHRA community is saddened to learn the news of Bob’s passing,” said NHRA President Peter Clifford. “He was a true competitor who left a lasting legacy of excellence both on and off the track. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with the Glidden family at this difficult time.”

After a formal retirement in 1997, Glidden occasionally raced up through the 2010 season. His name is often mentioned alongside other NHRA greats like Don Prudhomme and Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins.
