Q: I have a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am with a 400 cubic-inch engine. I am looking at the FiTech GoStreet EFI 400HP Self-Tuning Fuel Injection System. Will this system mount straight up to my Pontiac engine?

A: This self-learning EFI system features straightforward installation with application-specific modifications required. The system delivers a quick and accurate start-up process with excellent drivability, and it works with your factory HEI system. The included throttle body has a standard 5 1/2-inch neck, but will require an adapter so the throttle blades clear the 4-hole spread-bore flange on your OE manifold. Plus, you’ll need an aftermarket air cleaner base and further modifications for proper shaker hood fitment. You will also have to supplement your mechanical fuel pump with FiTech’s Fuel Command Center kit, or replace it altogether with an inline electric fuel pump kit, which will require additional modifications. Finally, you will have to fit the included oxygen sensor to the exhaust system.
