It’s hard to argue the popularity of the fifth-generation Camaro.

Chevrolet sold nearly 600,000 Camaros during the production run of the fifth generation, including over 80,000 in 2013 alone. That’s excellent news for Chevrolet, but not necessarily a good thing for hot rodder types who like their vehicles to stand apart from the crowd. Fortunately, the aftermarket has come to the rescue by offering a wide range of styling accessories, wheels, and interior upgrades to give otherwise non-descript Camaros some added personality.

Summit Racing opted to add a few Chevrolet Camaro styling accessories to its 2013 Camaro project. As you may recall, the Summit guys decided to give the ’13 a budget upgrade to showcase the hot rod potential of the fifth-generation Camaro. They started with new engine components and exhaust, added better suspension components for improved handling, and finished the makeover with these styling pieces:

RK Sport Carbon Fiber Hood

The most noticeable exterior upgrade is the carbon fiber hood.

Summit Racing opted to use an RK Sport stock-style carbon fiber hood, which complements the Camaro’s deep red paint nicely. RK Sport hoods are made from top-quality, hand-laid carbon fiber, so they’re durable and lightweight.

SLP Performance Parts Chin Spoiler

There were a couple of goals behind Summit Racing’s decision to add SLP Performance Parts’ Camaro SS front splitter: more aggressive looks and increased front-end downforce. This added downforce is intended to give the Camaro more stability at high speeds.

The chin spoiler is manufactured from OEM-quality composite material to provide flexibility, preventing cracking or breaking. It features complete undercarriage mounting for a hidden look — just what the Summit crew was looking for.

TSW Wheels Nurburgring Wheels

There’s no shortage of aftermarket wheel options.

For its Camaro project, Summit Racing went with TSW Wheels Nurburgring series gunmetal wheels. The rims are rotary forged to enhance the strength of the alloy wheels. That makes them much lighter than regular cast wheels. Much of the weight savings is in the outer rim of the wheels, which dramatically reduces rotational mass and enhances vehicle performance.

Lloyd Ultimats Fast Mats

Since this is a budget project, the Summit guys kept the interior upgrades simple: a set of Lloyd Ultimats Fast Mats. The floor mats are customizable to a wide range of makes and models and come in a variety of color choices to complement your vehicle’s original interior. For the Camaro, they went with ebony mats embroidered with the Camaro “SS” logo.

Lloyd’s Ultimats are more than just good looks, too. They feature a premium 2-ply nylon yarn that is more dense and wear-resistant than OEM carpeting to offer great function and longevity. In addition, the mats come with factory-compatible anchors, or Lloyd’s own, easy-to-install mat hooks, to keep them securely in place.

Drake Muscle Cars Bowtie Delete

Drake Muscle Cars’ Bowtie Delete provides a nice, subtle touch to any fifth-generation Camaro. It allows you to remove the Chevy Bowtie emblem from the front grille, giving the front-end a more subdued, sleeper look. Constructed from black textured ABS for a perfect match, the insert snaps into the hole left by removing the grille emblem, providing a clean appearance.

The engine, exhaust, suspension, and styling accessories in place, the Summit team had just one thing left on the to-do list: a trip to the dyno.

Stay tuned…
