For the 60th consecutive year, DuPont has released its Automotive Color Popularity Report, and for the second year in a row, white is the color most preferred by vehicle buyers worldwide.

White is also the most popular here in the United States. White makes up nearly a quarter of the global vehicle market—about 23 percent, according to the report, followed closely by black, which makes up 21 percent of all vehicle colors.

But the real question is: What IS the best automotive paint color?

One presumes fleet vehicles are a major factor in white’s popularity. But we don’t know that for sure.

Here at OnAllCylinders, some of us prefer black.

Others prefer red.
