Sometimes life is about the journey, not the destination.

The same could be said for Steve Johnson’s 1948 International KB-2 truck. Although the end result is fantastic, the time spent working on the truck with his dad–the journey–is what really makes the International special. The story of the truck is really about Steve’s dad, Dean, and his desire to someday own a pickup like the one featured in this video. It wasn’t until Dean was in his 80s that he’d realize that dream–with help from Steve.

Dean passed away in 2020, after the truck was completed. Although the KB-2 itself is an amazing tribute Steve and Dean’s relationship, it’s the journey of working on the project from start to finish that Steve truly cherishes. He shares that journey in the video and once again reminds us of how automobiles–trucks, hot rods, classics, or whatever–can create or even strengthen the bond between Fathers and their sons or daughters.
