Has it really been 15 years?

Yes, yes it has. It’s been nearly 15 years since original The Fast and the Furious movie opened in theaters, and Universal is marking the occasion by re-releasing the movie in theaters for one day only. That day is June 22 — the day it originally premiered in 2001.

As much as some might not like to admit it, The Fast and the Furious movie franchise has been a rousing success. The original The Fast and the Furious grossed $207.3 million worldwide and the movie franchise has grossed a collective $3.9 billion, according to Entertainment Weekly. So, while you wait for production to finish on The Fast and the Furious 8, you can relive your introduction to Dominic Toretto on June 22.
