Ford announced the power numbers for its 2015 Mustang lineup yesterday.
The 5.0L-powered GT will spit out 435 horsepower and 400 ft.-lbs. of torque—pretty impressive for a naturally aspirated V8. Still, those numbers seem downright tame compared to the Challenger SRT Hellcat, which produces a now well-documented 707 horsepower.
But you really can’t compare those numbers, can you? It’s not really an apples-to-apples comparison as the Hellcat belongs in a different conversation—a conversation that includes the likes of the Camaro ZL1, Corvette Z06, and whatever the next special Mustang is. Shelby GT350, anyone?
To make the comparison fair—and for the sake of this argument, we’ll compare similar entry-level V8-powered offerings (plus the Challenger SRT8 392 just for fun) from the Big Three and ask you:
Which would you rather have?
