If you’ve been into motorsports for any period of time, chances are you’re familiar with those old And They Walked Away videos.
This year’s edition of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta, GA had some prime crash/explosion candidates for those videos. And, thankfully, everyone involved in this weekend’s mayhem walked away. NHRA Top Fuel driver Antron Brown, as well as Funny Car pilots Jack Beckman and Tim Wilkerson, were all part of some pretty scary 1,000-ft passes at Atlanta Dragway. In case you missed them, we’ve got all three runs below.
Like anything else, it was a learning experience for all three drivers. The trio was on ESPN2 on Sunday night to discuss possible mechanical changes and upgrades they could make to avoid similar issues in the future. Then again, you can never fully predict what might happen when you mash the throttle on these mechanical marvels.
