This weekend the ADRL descends upon Summit Motorsports Park for the Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags. Pete Berner hopes his Summit Racing-backed Camaro will complete the trifecta and put Team Summit in the winner’s circle.

“Summit Racing does so much for this sport, and this event is a great example,” Berner said. “I want to thank them for sponsoring this event, which is one of the highlights of the ADRL tour. It’s certainly an honor for me to be sponsored by such a wonderful company that goes above and beyond in support of racers. Huge thanks to Jim Greenleaf and his team for all the effort they put into this event and all of their drag race endeavors. We really enjoy having Jim and his team around, as well as all the awesome Summit Racing fans who show such wonderful support for Team Summit.”

Berner and team are coming off of a runner up finish at the Memphis Drags and hope to carry that momentum one round further in Norwalk.

“Now that the car is coming along, I’m really looking forward to this event,” Berner said. “We are testing this week just to make sure the car is in tip top shape, but we’re also pretty confident that the car has the steam to take advantage of the cooler weather and maybe set some records. Everyone is going to be gunning for the chance at a record so we’ll have to be on top of our game. Thanks to Rick [Jones] and his insights in our test session before Memphis, I think we are there. We really can’t thank Rick enough for building such an awesome car and then going the extra mile with his customers to ensure we have the correct setup and information needed to run well. We never stop learning–that’s the key to returning to the winner’s circle.

“Another man whose advice I take to heart is my good friend and mentor, Dean Goforth. He’s been battling a staff infection again, so it was a nice surprise to have him with us at Memphis. He’s always encouraged me and taught me a lot through the years. At Memphis he said something that I needed to hear. He told me to give myself the chance to do well and win. It may sound simple, but he knew that’s what I needed to hear, and that I would take it to heart. So, Dean, this weekend we’re going to do just that!”
