OnAllCylinders Year in Review: Our Top News Posts of 2012

Editor’s Note: 2012 was quite a year. Actually, for OnAllCylinders, it was our only year.

We’re putting the finishing touches on our first 12 months of delivering a unique combination of tech articles, tech projects, automotive features, photo galleries, event coverage, news, and lifestyle posts.

We’re looking forward to bringing you that same mix of all- hings high performance and racing in 2013. But first we’re looking back at our most-read posts of 2012. Today, we’re revisiting our Top 5 most-read news posts of the year.

New-small-block-Chevy1. GM Introduces New Small Block Chevy V8 LT1

General Motors made quite a splash when it introduced its new-generation LT1, a 6.2-liter V8 that will power the 2014 Corvette. The fifth-generation small block will make 450-plus horsepower and achieve 26 miles-per-gallon fuel economy. Chances are you’ve heard all the details; if not, read about the new LT1 here.



2. Buick Reportedly Ressurrecting Grand National, T-Type and GNX Nameplates

The new LT1 wasn’t the only big news to come out of GM

headquarters. The company also announced possible plans to ressurect some classic Buick nameplates, including the Grand National, T-Type, and GNX. Reaction? A mixed bag from GM enthusiasts. Check out the story and form your own opinion.

Shelby Cobra Concept3. Automotive Legend Carroll Shelby Passes Away

Sadly, automotive legend Carroll Shelby passed away in May. We paid tribute to Mr. Shelby and then shared a video, which we called “One Last Ride with Carroll Shelby.” The video was a behind-the-scenes look at Mr. Shelby’s influence on the 2013 Shelby GT500 and was filmed at Sebring International Raceway.

4. GM Unveils Hot Wheels-Based Camaros, COPO Convertible

We brought you over 20 posts from the SEMA Show in Las Vegas back in late-October. Our most-read post was a recap of the General Motors press conference, which included new Hot Wheels-based Camaros and a one-of-a-kind COPO Camaro convertible. Reaction? A mixed bag once again. Sheesh. Check out all our SEMA coverage–we’re sure you’ll find something you like!

We brought you a video and slide show from the Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats and then followed it up with news on legislation to preserve the hallowed grounds.
