Look closely at a stock, unmolested GM LS engine, and you’ll probably see the spark plug boots protected by small metal canisters. GM fit these things on the spark plug boots as a smart way to protect them from the intense heat of the exhaust system components nearby.

In other words, the engineers at GM knew the minor expense of eight small metal heat shields easily outweighed the hassle of ignition-related warranty issues down the road.

Problem is, if you’ve rescued your LS (or now, LT) engine from languishing in a junkyard, there’s a good chance it’s missing these heat shields. Or at they very least, they’re likely all distorted and corroded by now.

That’s why the folks at Summit Racing introduced a lineup of OE-style spark plug heat shield boots for the GM LS/LT engine family.

These spark plug boot heat shields snap right in place and offer plenty of protection from ambient engine heat—keeping your ignition wires flexible and safe. Not only does this extend their service life, it cuts down on those aforementioned ignition headaches too.

As an added bonus, Summit Racing offers these spark plug boot heat shields in a range of colors, so you can add a small dash of underhood dress-up to your GM LS or LT engine as well.

All told, we’re big fans of cheap and easy preventative maintenance around here, and if you’ve got a GM LS or LT (or may other common engines) in your shop, these heat shields fit the bill…err…spark plug boot perfectly.
