Our good pal Robby Layton with the Robby Layton Nation YouTube Channel has a knack for building some really wild stuff.

From an AMC Pacer burnout machine to an LS-Swapped Bel Air rat rod, it would take a pretty unusual project for us to be surprised at what he cranks out.

Turns out, a massive off-roading bread van fit the bill perfectly.

Special thanks to Summit Racing’s Will Schertz and Justin Weideman for their help with this article.

This rig began life as a 1969 Dodge P200 and the Layton Nation threw a veritable smorgasbord of upgrades at it.

The truck now has a 5.3L LS engine under the bonnet, mated to a 6L80 transmission and 241C transfer case. It’s running a set of one-ton axles, with 42 inch BFGs wrapped around a quartet of beadlock wheels.

And it gets even better inside, where you’ll see Gatorstep boat deck flooring with the signature Robby Layton black, blue, and silver carpeting. Up front are a set of jump-style seats that were inspired by a military helicopter.

Just like the BleepinJeep Jaguar XJ we showed you earlier, this rig was built for the onX Off-Road Build Challenge. That means it has to be a capable off-roader, rock crawler, and overlander—and it has to be built on a 20,000 dollar budget.

Toss on a tough-looking bumper with a winch and some off-road lights, and we think Mr. Layton nailed it here.
