Last time it was Houston Raceway Park, now it looks like drag racers are losing a beloved track in Denver, Colorado.

Late last week, news broke that Bandimere Speedway will shut down operations after the 2023 season as the property goes up for sale.

NHRA fans know the venue as the host of the annual Mile-High Nationals drag race event every summer.

But there’s a silver lining here, because it sure sounds like the Bandimere family has plans to relocate the track:

“We have been blessed to occupy one of the most unique places in our state and feel that our commitment to the sport is not done yet. It’s part of the fabric of our family’s life, and we’re hopeful that another equally unique location can be found to continue the legacy that was started by my parents over six decades ago.”

In the meantime though, NHRA leadership is talking to other tracks to find a potential replacement venue for the Mile-High Nationals event on the 2024 schedule—and beyond.

The final NHRA Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway will be held July 14-16, 2023.
