As September comes to a close, we’re getting a clearer picture of the NHRA Championship Points Standings—for some of the classes, at least. But for the others though, the 2022 Carolina Nationals made the standings much, much more murky. So let’s hop to it, for this week’s NHRA Wrap-Up.

2022 NHRA Carolina Nationals Pro Stock Results

Squaring off against Matt Hartford in the Final Round on Sunday, Aaron Stanfield cut a ultra-sharp 0.018 RT on his way to a 6.567-second, 210.21 mph pass. The run topped Hartford’s 6.569@209.82 and moved Stanfield into the number two slot in the Pro Stock Championship Points Standings.

2022 NHRA Carolina Nationals Top Fuel Results

Despite a relatively quiet start to the season, Antron Brown and his newly-minted AB Motorsports are rapidly climbing up the Top Fuel points ladder. And he just hopped up to number two after leaving zMax Dragway. Paired up against current points leader Justin Ashley, Brown notched the starting line advantage before bolting to a 3.672-second, 335.73 mph victory, topping Ashley’s 3.671@333.99.

Antron Brown joined us on a recent OnAllCylinders Podcast. You can find that episode (plus all the other ones) here.

2022 NHRA Carolina Nationals Funny Car Results

Though it’s still crowded at the top of the Funny Car standings, defending Champ Ron Capps made a statement in North Carolina this weekend—and it was an interesting one too. Matched with Alexis DeJoria in the Finals, Capps cut the quicker light and took the early lead, right before losing his engine. In the other lane, DeJoria didn’t fare much better and both cars coasted through the beams without power. All told, Capps escaped with a win, thanks to a 3.967@267.32 against DeJoria’s 3.985@266.85. (The slowest runs for either driver the entire weekend.)
