Jaguar Land Rover, one of the most storied companies in automotive history, has just announced that it will transform the Jaguar marque into an all-electric luxury brand starting in 2025.

In the same announcement, Land Rover revealed plans to launch six all-electric models in the next five years. Jaguar Land Rover also says that there will be an all-electric variant available for every vehicle model it makes by the end of the decade. The first all-electric Land Rover will arrive in 2024.

The move is part of Jaguar Land Rover’s new global strategy that includes, among other things, a lot of new electric vehicles, a plan to develop clean-hydrogen fuel-cell technology, and the long-term goal of becoming a net-zero carbon business by 2039.

The Jaguar I-PACE SUV is Jaguar’s only current all-electric vehicle available on showrooms, but Jaguar Land Rover has teased its bold electric aspirations before, in the form of a handful of concepts and a trademark for the phrase “EV-Type.”

Oh, and a few years ago it even mulled plans to launch a classic E-Type Zero roadster, complete with an all-electric retrofit drivetrain. (So. Much. Want.)
