Looking Back at Each Car Commercial from Super Bowl LIII

By every possible measure, Super Bowl LIII put the “foot” in football.

In the lowest-scoring game in Super Bowl history, the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3, holding the team to just 260 total yards and no touchdowns. By comparison, Rams kicker Johnny Hekker finished the game with nine punts (including the longest in Super Bowl history) for a total of 417 yards.

Somewhere out there is an NFL fan who just relishes all-things kicking—who lives for punts and field goal attempts and longs to see a touchdown celebration consisting of a well-choreographed Riverdance routine—and we’re certain that person spent last night in a euphoric haze. For everyone else, well, at least there were the commercials.

Once again, advertisers paid millions of dollars to showcase their latest products and services during the nation’s most-watched annual sporting event. And, once again, automakers accounted for a sizable portion of that screen time. Here are the ones that appeared during the big game.

Hyundai: ‘The Elevator’

Jason Bateman charms as an elevator operator transporting uneasy passengers to various unpleasant life events in this commercial for Hyundai’s Shopper Assurance program.

Audi: ‘Cashew’

An Audi fan nearly dies happy in this spot teasing the Audi E-Tron GT electric sport sedan.

Toyota: ‘Toni’

Toyota’s Rav4 Hybrid ad channels the American dream through the story of Toni Harris, who hopes to become the first woman to play in the NFL.

Toyota: ‘Wizard’

The Toyota Supra is back. ‘Nuff said.

Kia: ‘Give it Everything’

Kia gives a voice to the “great unknowns” in this spot for its new Telluride SUV.

Mercedes-Benz: ‘Say the Word’

The world may not do everything you ask it to, but the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class will.

RAM also got in on the action with several Super Bowl party-themed spots airing on YouTube during the game and featuring the hashtag #RamWillTowThat. You can check each of them out on the Ram YouTube channel.
