The wait is over.

For months, countless fans and customers have lit up the phone lines of Summit Racing’s sales and tech departments, asking about something other than new parts and tech advice.

“People keep asking us what cars are going to be in Summit Racing The Movie,” said Summit Racing tech adviser Norman Pritts. “Everyone’s hoping to see a car they own, I guess. A lot of people are wondering whether we’ll sell special parts combos for the movie cars. We keep telling them, ‘You’ll know when we know!’”

Rumors about special-edition Summit Racing parts combos for the featured vehicle models are at this point just that—rumors, but we’re excited about the possibilities.

In conjunction with Summit Racing Equipment’s 50th anniversary celebration next year, the new feature film, Summit Racing The Movie, starring actors Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as NHRA Pro Stock drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line, is slated to hit theaters in the summer of 2018.

You can read the movie’s plot summary below, but first we’re happy to finally be able to share with you the film’s automotive stars.

See Cars, Movie Stars at Summit Racing’s Texas Grand Opening

The newest Summit Racing location is under construction in Arlington, TX and will open in a few months. A specific date for the grand opening celebration at Summit Racing’s new Texas-sized Retail Super Store hasn’t been set, but the plan is for each of the movie cars to be there along with some of the human actors starring in the film. In addition to Stiller and Wilson, other special guests may include Rick Moranis, Jason Statham, Kurtwood Smith, Shirley Muldowney, Jim Greenleaf, Billy the Exterminator, and Scott Stapp – the voice of Creed®.

Our friends at Summit also tell us the new Arlington retail store may feature a small auto museum featuring noteworthy vehicles, including the treasure trove of classic cars Summit Racing famously uncovered in spring 2014 while breaking ground on a parking lot expansion.

Exciting stuff!

Plot Summary for Summit Racing The Movie

Former NHRA champion Greg Anderson (Stiller) has been banned from racing after it was discovered he helped his younger brother steal cars in an elaborate heist to settle a debt with North Carolina’s most dangerous criminal who had threatened his brother’s life. Anderson now works for a car delivery service and is tasked with taking a brand new 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 from Charlotte, NC to Arlington, TX.

Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet from former race teammate Jason Line (Wilson) that he can get it there in less than 10 hours!

The real Greg Anderson. The real Jim Greenleaf. The real Jason Line. At a real NHRA race.

Anderson calls his inside source at Summit Racing, Jim Greenleaf (as himself), and orders every power adder that can possibly be squeezed into the Camaro. After the install, Anderson sets off for Texas in his souped-up Camaro, followed closely by Line who is planning a drag-race-focused cross-country tour of his own in a 1970 Chevelle SS 454.

With long-time racing pal Shirley Muldowney riding shotgun, and Anderson’s lovable former crew chief Harry Hogge eating ice cream in the back, action-packed insanity and hilarity ensues as the gang tries to avoid the authorities as well as a pack of Japanese gang-related drift racers on their high-speed race to Texas!

Meanwhile, Line finds himself in a series of edge-of-your-seat drag races for pink slips with The Mechanic (Statham) alongside him, facing primer-gray Bel Airs on blacktop and NOS-powered Toyota Supras in Race Wars, and is often heard repeating his personal catchphrase: “I live my life a quarter-mile at a time!”

Will Line lose his Chevelle in a high-stakes race?

Will Anderson win the bet, find redemption, and rejoin the ranks of NHRA racing?

Will the guys deliver the chip dip and Ambrosia salad to the Summit Racing 50th anniversary and Arlington, TX retail store grand opening party and not ruin the entire event?
