It appears the Ford Mustang lineup will no longer include a V6 option beginning in model-year 2018, setting up the 2.3L EcoBoost as the entry-level option moving forward.

Ford officials have declined to comment on the change, but according to several reports, all Ford Mustang body type codes for the 3.7L V6 come up invalid in the updated Ford dealership system.

In addition to the turbocharged EcoBoost, the S550 Mustang’s other two engine options are the 5.0L Coyote V8 and the 5.2L Voodoo V8.
