2016-MCMU-bracket-final

This should be interesting.

On one hand, we have a former champion. The 1969 Chevy Yenko 427 Nova won this tournament in 2014.

And on the other, we have the 1970 Chevrolet 454 Chevelle SS, which actually took out the famed Yenko Nova in the Final Four of last year’s Muscle Car Match-Ups.

You’d think that might worry the Yenko Nova a little. But it totally doesn’t. We asked.

You can review our original post for details on how to vote, then let your voice be heard.

We’re down to two iconic Chevys. A ’69 and a ’70. Both are winners, but only one gets the crown.

It’s time to choose.

There’s little to say that hasn’t already been said about the 1969 Chevy Yenko 427 Nova. It’s the lightest of the famed Yenko 427 lineup. Its 0-60 time is four seconds. Only 37 of these cars were built. It’s a defending tourney champ.

To get to the championship, the Yenko Nova rolled through the ’49 Merc, then the ’65 Shelby Cobra 427, then the seldom-defeated 1970 Plymouth Superbird in Round 3, before bidding farewell to the 1969 Chevy Camaro ZL1 over the weekend.

Last year? That was last year.

Of course, that won’t stop Melba Toast fans from voting for the 1970 Chevy 454 Chevelle SS. That’s 450 factory horses 46 years ago! It’s hard to imagine. When we try, we pass out for a little bit like pygmy goats.

The ’70 Chevelle SS has taken no prisoners in this tournament. In Round 1, it destroyed the ’62 Dodge Polara 413 Max Wedge, then eliminated three consecutive muscle-bound titans from 1969 — the Ford Mustang Boss 429, the 1969 Pontiac GTO, and the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T.

If you’re scared, go to church.

If you’re not, you better vote, because we’re crowning the king for 2016 and only you can decide who it will be.
