Fans of no-prep drag racing in the vicinity of northern Ohio won’t want to miss the 2018 edition of Super Summit, Summit Racing’s annual homage to all things internal combustion, June 8-9 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH.

No Prep Kings stars Jeff Lutz and Ryan Martin will be in attendance this year to interact with fans, sign autographs, and even make some passes on the Norwalk dragstrip with their insane, huge-horsepower, yet street-legal cars.

For those not in the know, No Prep Kings is one of the most popular forms of drag racing today. The format is simple—radical, street-legal cars with massive horsepower compete at tracks that have absolutely no surface prep. It’s run-what-you-brung, and hope you can get down the 1/8-mile in one piece. The survivor—er, winner—of the series gets crowned the No-Prep King, and these guys take that title seriously.

Meet Jeff Lutz

Jeff Lutz will be bringing his latest race car, The 57, to Super Summit. The bright yellow ’57 Chevy has a methanol-fed, twin-turbo, 540 cubic-inch big block Chevy under the hood that makes 3,500 horsepower. The transmission is a Turbo 400 with a Gear Vendors overdrive for easier cruising on the street. The 2,360-pound car features a chromoly tube chassis and a body that’s all carbon fiber composite except for the steel quarter panels.

Meet Ryan Martin

Co-owner of B&R Performance in Oklahoma, Martin has spent a lifetime around racing street-legal cars. His current ride is the Fireball Camaro, a red 2010 Camaro SS with a 540 cubic-inch, twin-turbo big block built by Pro Line Racing Engines. The all-billet powerplant is capable of making upward of 4,500 horsepower. Martin uses modified Turbo 400 transmissions—a two-speed for racing and a three-speed for the street.
