A parking lot is a parking lot is a parking lot—unless it’s the Summit Racing parking lot. On any given day or time, the lot outside a Summit Racing store can turn into an impromptu mini car show, depending on who’s stopped by the store. On Wednesdays, we’ll share our parking lot find of the week—another benefit of being powered by Summit Racing Equipment.

The 1953 Ford F-100 was the first half-ton F-Series to be so named — and the introduction of the naming convention Ford still uses for its truck offerings today.

Until 1953, it was the F-1.

The ’53 F-100 is also noteworthy for being the last model year Ford F-Series trucks sold in the United States were powered by flathead engines. A new 239 cubic-inch overhead valve Y-block V8 named “Power King” replaced it in late-1953.

The second generation of the Ford F-Series is a popular choice for hot-rodders and collectors, and you can see why simply by looking at them.

We found this beauty in the parking lot outside of the Summit Racing retail store in Tallmadge, OH last year.

We liked it. For obvious reasons.
