LAS VEGAS, NV — Maybe the Chevrolet Camaro is like your one buddy who doesn’t like anyone to know it’s his birthday. Perhaps that’s why there was so little fanfare about the Camaro’s 50th anniversary at Chevrolet’s SEMA press conference.

It’s not like the Camaro was completely ignored. Chevrolet did bring the very first ’67 Camaro to roll off the assembly line: VIN 001. And there also was a 2017 COPO Camaro and a few interesting Camaro concepts in the booth.

It’s just that we were expecting more.

Maybe Chevrolet is more interested in looking forward than backward right now. Which would explain why its mission-ready Colorado ZH2 fuel cell vehicle took center stage (and top billing), alongside the Silverado Carhartt Concept on the first day of the 2016 SEMA Show.

The imposing ZH2 truck was built on a stretched Chevy Colorado chassis and stands more than 6½ feet tall. The U.S. Army will test the truck in extreme conditions to determine the viability of hydrogen-powered vehicles on military missions. The Army will test the ZH2 setup for quiet operation, high wheel torque, and low fuel consumption.

The ZH2 is definitely worth a closer look. Watch the entire Chevrolet press conference below to hear more about it .
