Ford has introduced its answer to the Camaro Z/28.

Unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the new 2016 Mustang GT350R is the race-ready version of Ford’s latest GT350. You basically get all the power of the GT350’s flat-crank 5.2L V8–500 horsepower and 400 ft.-lbs. of torque–in a lighter, aerodynamically-enhanced package. In other words, this thing is all about track performance–no stereo, no air conditioning, no rear seats. Instead, the GT350R comes with carbon fiber wheels, a revised front splitter, and a large carbon fiber wing for added downforce. (If you want an audio system, A/C, or other added comforts, you can order your GT35oR with an optional Electronics Package.)

All told, the GT350R is around 130 pounds lighter than the Shelby GT350 Track Pack model, according to Ford’s press release. Other features include revised spring rates, antiroll bars, and race-tuned calibration for the car’s MagnaRide dampers.
