We’re not questioning the power of the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat: 707 horsepower.

But many still question its ultimate performance potential. Does its eight-speed automatic make maximum use of all that power? Can you expect low ETs or just loads of tire spin? And what about all those extra pounds the Challenger is known for?

We may not have all the answers here, but this video at least gives you an idea of what the Challenger SRT8 Hellcat can do on the dragstrip. In this video, Dodge CEO Tim Kiniskis hands over a 2015 SRT to Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage and TV’s Fast n’ Loud. Rawlings and buddy, Dennis Collins, go head-to-head on the quarter mile, pitting the 707-horse Challenger SRT against a HEMI-powered 1971 Challenger.
