A parking lot is a parking lot is a parking lot—unless it’s the Summit Racing parking lot. On any given day or time, the lot outside a Summit Racing store can turn into an impromptu mini car show, depending on who’s stopped by the store. Each Wednesday, we’ll share our parking lot find of the week—another benefit of being Powered by Summit Racing Equipment.

1971 was a year of firsts for the venerable Dodge Charger.

It was the first year of a brand-new body style. And the first (and only) year of the Dodge Charger Super Bee.

We spotted this 1971 Charger R/T a while back in the Summit Racing Ohio parking lot. The ’71 model featured an all-new design with shortened wheelbase, Pontiac-style split grille, and higher rear beltline. This one in particular features the 440 Magnum engine and a Plum Crazy paint job. Other Hi-Impact color options included Top Banana, Citron Yella, and Panther Pink.

Sadly, 1971 was also a year of lasts for the Charger as the 426 HEMI “Elephant” engine was discontinued, leaving the Charger with fewer performance engine options.
