General Motors Corp. unveiled the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Sunday on the eve of the Detroit Auto Show.

Leaked photos have been circulating for several weeks on Internet message boards and various automotive blogs, and the car appears to be quite similar to what we saw there. And that isn’t such a bad thing.

The base model 2014 Corvette Stingray will roar from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds, and get 26 miles per gallon. The car is powered by GM’s brand new small block V8—the reinvented LT1, which is expected to deliver 450 horsepower and 450 foot-pounds of torque.

The Los Angeles Times has good coverage of the new Corvette’s unveiling which took place at 7 pm EST Sunday, including a great shot of the new car’s cockpit. The Detroit Free Press also has some great stuff, including some strong comments from GM executives.

Update: GM on March 5 unveiled the Stingray convertible at the Geneva Motor Show.

Welcome to the party, C7. Nice to meet you.
