A parking lot is a parking lot is a parking lot—unless it’s the Summit Racing parking lot. On any given day or time, the lot outside a Summit Racing store can turn into an impromptu mini car show, depending on who’s stopped by the store. Each Wednesday, we’ll share our parking lot find of the week—another benefit of being Powered by Summit Racing Equipment.

In our recent post about The 5 Vehicle Makes You Want to Ressurect, you listed Plymouth as one of the beloved automotive brands you’d like to see make a comeback. When you look at this 1967 Barracuda we found at Summit Racing-Ohio, you have to wonder why it ever went away in the first place.

While the Ford Mustang is widely credited for ushering in the muscle car era, the sporty Barracuda actually beat the Mustang to market by a couple of weeks in 1964. The Barracuda started as an option package for the Valiant and was overshadowed by the Mustang at the time. However, by the time 1967 rolled around, the Barracuda had earned its own Barracuda-specific design, sheetmetal, and body styles. The second-generation (1967-69) Barracuda was available in convertible and notchback versions as well as the fastback version seen here.
